Florida football’s regular season is in its waning phase but the recruiting efforts never end under first-year head coach Billy Napier, who has focused on populating the program with premium prep prospects to help restore pride to the Orange and Blue. So far, he and his army of staffers have done a great job crawling up the recruiting rankings, either cracking or on the cusp of the top 10 in all the major rankings.
Among those remaining in the 2023 cycle is five-star edge defender Samuel M’Pemba originally out of St. Louis, Missouri, who currently attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The 6-foot-3-inch, 255-pound defender dropped his update on Monday, announcing his final four schools including the Gators, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
“Florida is starting to find themselves now for sure with the last couple games,” M’Pemba told Fawcett. “They’re definitely starting to get what they need, and just needing a couple more pieces.”
The other programs included on his short list are the Tennessee Volunteers, Georgia Bulldogs and Miami Hurricanes. The high school senior is expected to make his decision on Dec. 4.
M’Pemba is ranked No. 29 overall and No. 4 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 consensus has him at Nos. 23 and 4, respectively. The ‘Dawgs hold three of his four 247Sports crystal ball predictions while the ‘Cane hold the other; On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has UGA with a 93.7% probability of landing the young man’s talents.
