USC’s Tuli Tuipulotu Earns Another Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week Award

LOS ANGELES — USC junior defensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in USC’s 55-17 victory over Colorado. This is the second time he’s earned this honor in the 2022 season. He has also won Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week three times this year. 
 
He recorded 3 tackles, with 2.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks for minus 18 yards on Friday, Nov. 11 in the Coliseum. He also tallied 1 forced fumble and 1 pass breakup. 

He now has 11.5 sacks this season which are the most in a single season by a Trojan since Kenechi Udeze set the USC record with 16.5 sacks in the 2003 season. Tuipulotu now has 19.0 career sacks.

On the season, Tuipulotu has 32 tackles (17.5 for loss), 3 pass breakups, 2 quarterback hurries and 2 forced fumbles.

Tuipulotu is No. 2 in the nation in sacks (1.15 per game). He is also currently No. 4 in the nation in tackles for loss with 1.8 per game, and leads the Pac-12 Conference in the stat. 

Tuipulotu is a semifinalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy and a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award and the Rotary Lombardi Award. Initially named a preseason All-American, he has now earned placement on six Midseason All-American First Teams (AP, ESPN, Athlon, CBS Sports, The Athletic and FOX Sports). He is also on the watch lists for Nagurski Award, Outland Trophy and Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award.
