This season has not been one that Colorado Buffaloes football fans had hoped for.
The Buffs’ offensive issues have not been fixed from last season and the defense has also regressed in several ways. Because of this, the head coach search has become of more interest to many fans than the final two games.
But for the CU faithful, there’s still lots of football worth watching across the rest of the country. Mostly due to that coaching search, Buffs fans should be tuning in to other games down the stretch and into the postseason. Sure, we could take the easy route and root for whoever’s playing Colorado’s rivals, but we’re diving deeper.
Here are a few teams you should pay attention to as we wind down the season:
Liberty Flames

Hugh Freeze and his Liberty Flames have been a favorite of mine for a while. Not only is Freeze a potential head coach candidate, but the Flames are an underdog-type team anyone can cheer for. After a rough stretch at Ole Miss, Freeze has done nothing but win at Liberty, compiling a 34-13 record with three straight bowl wins.
USC Trojans

I know it’s tough to think about watching a team that just beat you by 30, but hear me out. There hasn’t been just one name that has been linked to the Buffaloes from Southern Cal but rather two: defensive coordinator Alex Grinch and defensive backs coach Donte Williams.
