Jack Stoll eyes bigger role with Dallas Goedert on Injured Reserve

'Flexibility' key as Eagles set sights on Draft Weekend

Stoll has 4 receptions for 49 yards in his second season here after making the Eagles’ 53-man roster last summer as an undrafted player from Nebraska. He isn’t alone in the tight ends room as the Eagles gameplan for the right combination to replace Goedert as a blocker and receiver. Sixth-round draft pick Grant Calcaterra, who has played 71 offensive snaps with one start this season, has one reception for 40 yards.

The Eagles activated Tyree Jackson from the Physically Unable to Perform list after suffering a torn ACL in the 2021 regular-season finale against Dallas. After converting from a college quarterback, Jackson impressed last summer in Training Camp and played in nine games, seeing action on 171 offensive snaps and catching three passes for 21 yards in that game against Dallas, including a touchdown pass from quarterback Gardner Minshew.

“Those guys will be ready for the opportunity when it comes,” quarterback Jalen Hurts said, pledging his faith in the other tight ends.

There are options and, as we know, it’s a game-to-game proposition based on matchups. The Eagles can opt to use more three- and four-wide receiver sets, if they desire, and they have flexibility at running back at well. Most of all, they have confidence in each other to respond when one of their teammates – and a very valuable and productive one in Goedert, make no mistake about that – is sidelined.

“We all feel for him and we know that Dallas will get back as soon as he can,” said Stoll, who has seen action on 40 percent of the offensive snaps this season. “But now we have to help the team continue winning and that’s what we’re going to do.”
