• 2022 National Awards Season: Who’s Up for What?
Blake Corum (Nov. 22)
Doak Walker Award Semifinalist — The Wolverines’ leading scorer and rusher, Blake Corum, has been chosen as one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker National Running Back Award. Corum is third in the country with 1,457 rushing yards this season, the most by a Wolverine back since Mike Hart‘s 2006 season (1,562 yards). He has scored 18 rushing touchdowns, two shy of the single-season program record, and 19 total touchdowns (tied-most) and is second in the nation in first downs (96). Corum has been the leader of Michigan’s top-10 scoring offense and the backbone of its No. 4 rushing attack (241.3 yards per game), the best in the Big Ten. His historic season has helped U-M reach an 11-0 record, in part due to an active stretch of eight games with 100-plus yards on the ground and at least one rushing touchdown. The award, which recognizes the nation’s premier running back, will announce finalists on Nov. 29.
