While other quarterbacks might have run from the chance to fix the Hawkeyes’ defunct offense, Cade McNamara is sprinting headfirst toward it.
In fact, he’s genuinely excited about it.
The Michigan transfer made his first public comments while joining hosts Kyle Allen and Jordan Palmer on The Room, and it’s clear that he’s serious in his belief that he’s the guy to turn this Iowa offense around.
“No, to be honest, I’m well aware of the whole (situation), how Iowa’s offense is viewed, and especially right now after the season that they had, it would be the least intriguing place for a quarterback to go if you’re looking at it from that perspective, but, for me, it’s like the biggest opportunity to flip it, so that just makes it, that’s what I get fired up about,” McNamara said.
The 6-foot-1, 206 pound signal-caller hopes that you keep saying and thinking that Iowa will have one of the nation’s stinkiest offenses heading into 2023, too. He used a little more colorful language than that, but you catch the drift.
“Iowa’s going to get a quarterback that’s going to do anything possible that I can to make sure they win a championship. Everything I do, every minute of work, every rep, it’s for that goal and that goal only. Whether that’s doing everything I can to help create a winning culture, to use what I’ve learned at Michigan and the rest of my career to help really send us on a projection to really win. I think Iowa has enough pieces right now to go win a Big Ten Championship next year and I’m going to make sure I do everything I can to make sure that we do,” McNamara said.
Again, why Iowa, though?
Here’s the thing, as McNamara revealed, he and Iowa are actually a perfect marriage if you remove the negativity surrounding the Hawkeyes’ offense and instead focus on the opportunity.
