Transfer quarterback Grayson McCall was originally planning to visit Auburn this weekend but according to a report by Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover that will not be happening.
McCall is one of the top players in the transfer portal and arguably the top quarterback after spending the past four seasons at Coastal Carolina.
A three-year starter, he threw for 2,633 yards and 24 touchdowns to just two interceptions in 2022. He has completed 70% of his passes for 8,019 yards and 78 touchdowns to just eight interceptions in 34 career games.
The good news for Auburn is that NC State transfer quarterback Devin Leary is officially visiting Auburn this weekend. He is also one of the top players in the portal and is competing with McCall as the top quarterback on the transfer market.
With McCall canceling his visit, Leary now appears to be Auburn’s top quarterback target. Leary was a star in 2021 for the Wolfpack but was limited to just six games in 2022 because of a shoulder injury.
Completing 66% of his passes, he threw for 3,433 yards and 35 touchdowns to eight interceptions in 2021. In 30 career games, he has completed 60.2% of his passes for 6,807 yards, 62 touchdowns to 16 interceptions. He will have one more season of eligibility at his next school.
