One of Clemson’s running backs has transferred to a different ACC school.
Kobe Pace took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce his transfer to Virginia, following former Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott, who is now the head coach of the Cavaliers.
The former three-star recruit entered the portal on Dec. 5, two days after the Tigers defeated North Carolina in the ACC Championship game. In the 39-10 win over the Tar Heels, Pace had three carries for 3 yards.
Dealing with an ankle injury and playing behind Will Shipley and Phil Mafah this season, Pace rarely saw the field, finishing 2022 with 77 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 30 attempts.
The down-year came after Pace played an instrumental role in 2021 with the Tigers. With Elliott as his play-caller, Pace rushed for 641 yards and six touchdowns last season when he started in six games.
Pace will now look for a fresh start with Elliott and the Cavaliers, who Clemson will play in 2024.
As for the Tigers, they still have Shipley, Mafah, Domonique Thomas and Keith Adams Jr. as their tailbacks on scholarship.
