#ProDeacs: Week 15 Recap - Wake Forest University Athletics

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Week 15 of the 2022 NFL season saw a number of Wake Forest rookies make an impact. Additionally, a Demon Deacon clinched a division title and a pair of Deacs’ rose in the playoff picture.

Here’s a look at how the #ProDeacs did this week.

Rookie Update

Luke Masterson led the Raiders with a career-high 11 tackles, including a tackle for loss, in the 30-24 win over the New England Patriots. The undrafted rookie finished the game with a 72.3 grade from ProFootballFocus, which ranked third on the defense. This is the second-consecutive week the linebacker finished with a 70+ PFF grade.

The 2022 fourth-round pick, Zach Tom, played all 71 snaps at left tackle for the Packers on Monday Night Football in the 24-12 win over the Los Angeles Rams. He allowed no QB hits, allowed just one hurry and led the team with an impressive 81.9 pass block rating from PFF.

Ja’Sir Taylor, the sixth-round pick to the Los Angeles Chargers, recorded a career-high 26 snaps at corner and tallied three tackles in the 17-14 win over the Titans. Taylor has spent most of the season impressing on special teams.

Playoff Update

Luiji Vilain and the Minnesota Vikings clinched the NFC North with the largest comeback in NFL history, as they defeated the Indianapolis Colts, 39-36, in overtime after trailing 33-0 at halftime. Minnesota currently holds the second seed in the NFC, two games behind the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jesse Bates III and the Cincinnati Bengals took sole control of the AFC North after their 34-23 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a Ravens loss. If the season ended today, Cincinnati would be the third seed in the AFC.

With the 17-14 win over Tennessee, the Chargers leapfrogged Miami and New England to jump into the playoff picture at 8-6. Los Angeles is second in the AFC North (behind the 11-3 Chiefs) and sixth in the conference.
