Betting odds Tennessee-Clemson Orange Bowl Wednesday

Clemson and Tennessee Orange Bowl depth chart

The Vols football program looks to close its 2022 campaign on a high note against the Clemson Tigers at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida, on Friday. After a season that started strongly but was derailed by the loss of its starting quarterback, the Tennessee faithful are hoping for one last W before packing up for the season.

Rocky Top brings a 10-2 record into the matchup, including a 6-2 mark in Southeastern Conference play. The Tigers are 11-2 with an 8-0 record against Atlantic Coast Conference foes as well as the 2022 ACC title.

The Vols hold the edge in the all-time series, 11-6-2, dating to 1901. Friday’s affair is the teams’ 20th meeting overall and second in the postseason, with Clemson defeating the Vols, 27-14, in the 2004 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, following the 2003 campaign.

That was also the last time the two teams met on the football field and featured the fumblerooski by Clemson on its way to victory.

Prediction

The Vols will be without their best player and field general, Hendon Hooker, who would make a huge difference if he were healthy enough to play. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and the short-handed Tennessee team will have to look for other players to step up. With Hooker, this is likely a win for Rocky Top, but that is simply not in the cards.

Clemson 33, Tennessee 24
