No. 21 Texas fell short to No. 12 Washington in the 2022 Alamo Bowl. The Huskies held control of the game from start to finish, holding on to a 27-20 victory.
The Longhorns’ rushing attack was non-existent without Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson in the backfield. Texas ran the ball 18 times for just 51 yards on a 2.8 yards per carry pace.
Quinn Ewers played a solid game despite the struggles in the run game. He looked much more comfortable with the offense, especially in the second half. However, a few huge drops by Xavier Worthy kept Texas from really getting back in the game.
Third downs gave Texas’ defense tons of trouble all night. Washington converted 11-20 third downs, consistently killing Texas with long, methodical drives.
Texas finishes the season with an improved 8-5 record, leaving much to be desired on the table. All five of the Horns’ losses came by one possession.
