TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League concluded the 18th and final week of the 2022-23 regular season on Monday night. Below is a look at former Alabama players that excelled on the gridiron.
Jerry Jeudy set a career-high mark for receiving yards on Sunday, helping the Denver Broncos capture a win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Jeudy recorded five receptions for 154 yards and added three rushes for 39 yards on his way to being named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Staying in the AFC, running back Derrick Henry had another outstanding game for the Titans. Henry rushed 30 times for 109 yards to go over the century mark in a fourth consecutive contest and the ninth time this season. Fellow tailback Kenyan Drake posted a solid effort for the Baltimore Ravens, carrying 16 times for 60 yards and a touchdown while also adding two receptions for 19 yards. Rounding out the trio of former Tide running backs was Najee Harris. The second-year back helped the Pittsburgh Steelers to a win over Cleveland with 84 yards and a touchdown across 23 carries to go with one reception for a 10-yard gain.
Harris’ teammate, Levi Wallace, made some noise against the Browns as well. The cornerback recorded one tackle, a pass defense and one interception in the divisional contest. Detroit defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs also came up big in a divisional matchup, helping the Lions end Green Bay’s playoff hopes with his seven tackles on Sunday Night Football.
Rookie Christian Harris shined once again as he continued his way back from injury. The rookie linebacker tallied 10 tackles, including two for loss, to go with one quarterback hit and one pass defense in Houston’s 32-31 victory. Fellow linebacker C.J. Mosley had a solid showing for the Jets, notching seven tackles, one quarterback hit and a pass defense against the Dolphins.
The Crimson Tide was also well-represented on the league’s Pro Bowl rosters once again. Alabama had 11 total selections for the postseason event with Minkah Fitzpatrick (Steelers), Derrick Henry (Titans), Marlon Humphrey (Ravens), Josh Jacobs (Raiders), Patrick Surtain II (Broncos), C.J. Mosley and Quinnen Williams (Jets) representing the AFC. The NFC honorees included Jonathan Allen (Commanders) and Trevon Diggs (Cowboys) along with Landon Dickerson and Jalen Hurts (Eagles).
