Nebraska at Colorado considered a top non-conference game of 2023

A list taking an early look at the 2023 college football season says that Nebraska’s non-conference matchup with their old Big 8 rival Colorado is one of the top non-conference games of the year. Football Scoop looked at the 14 games on the schedule and determined that when the Cornhuskers travel to Boulder to take on the Buffaloes, it will be one of the bigger games on the non-conference slate.

The September 9th showdown will only be new head coach Matt Rhule’s second game as the head coach at Nebraska. But Colorado has a new head coach of its own in Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.

Sanders, who came to Colorado from Jackson State, will only be coaching in his second game as the Buffs head coach, but it will be his first game at Folsom Field. Colorado opens the season on September 2nd on the road against TCU.

Nebraska and Colorado have a long history as opponents on the football field. The two teams have played a total of 71 times, with Nebraska leading the all-time series 49-20-2.
