Now that the 2022-23 season has come and gone, it’s time to look at how the recently completed season impacts the AP college football rankings. The Associated Press has been publishing college football rankings since 1936.
What are the greatest programs of all time, according to the voters of the Associated Press? What criteria are used by the AP to determine these all-time listings?
College Football News writes,
Take all the AP final rankings and use our simple scoring system – the AP national champion in each season gets 25 points, the No. 2 team 24, No. 3 23, and so on down to the bottom.
From the first end-of-season rankings in 1935 up to the present, what are the greatest programs of all time? Where do the Cornhuskers rank on the all-time list?
The last decade has not been the most kind to the Nebraska football program, but they still place in the all-time Top Ten. The Cornhuskers last placed in the AP poll in 2019. They would be a preseason No. 25, fall to No. 24 following a Week 1 victory over South Alabama, and fall out of the poll after a Week 2 overtime loss at Colorado.
