USFL Officially Names Ford Field as Hub for Panthers and Stars

FOX Airs USFL Season 2 Promo During NFL Sunday Coverage

The past couple months have been buzzing with rumors surrounding the USFL and a potential hub in Michigan. Earlier this week, it was reported that the league was heading to Detroit for a press conference.

Yesterday, the USFL was in Canton, OH where they named Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium as home to the Pittsburgh Maulers and New Jersey Generals.

Today, live from motor city, Ford Field was officially named the other northern hub for the league in 2023. The Michigan Panthers and Philadelphia Stars will be sharing the venue 40 years after they faced off in the inaugural USFL Championship. This also marked the last time a professional football team won a championship in the state of Michigan.

Additionally, we learned that the first game will take place on April 30th between the Panthers and Stars.

The Panthers had a record of 2-8 in 2022, but with the first pick in each round of the draft this year they could easily turn things around. Additionally, if the Stallions performance was any indicator, home field advantage could go a long way for Coach Fisher and company.

Now that Detorit is official, we now offically know the four locations the USFL will land for season 2.

North

  • Canton, OH – New Jersey Generals & Pittsburgh Maulers
  • Detroit, MI – Michigan Panthers & Philadelphia Stars

South

  • Birmingham, AL – Birmingham Stallions & New Orleans Breakers
  • Memphis, TN – Memphis Showboats & Houston Gamblers
