PITTSBURGH—Seeking a third consecutive finish in the national rankings, the Pitt football team will face a challenging 2023 schedule comprised of eight 2022 bowl teams, including three squads listed in ESPN’s “Way-Too-Early” Top 25.

ACC Network revealed the Panthers’ complete 12-game regular-season slate Monday evening.

Pitt will play eight ACC contests as the conference moves to a non-divisional format in 2023. The Panthers’ four non-conference games include three Power 5/Major Independent foes.

The schedule’s home highlights:

  • Pitt will host four ACC games: North Carolina (Sept. 23), Louisville (Oct. 14), Florida State (Nov. 4) and Boston College (Thursday, Nov. 16).

  • Pitt renews ties with newly minted Big 12 member Cincinnati on Sept. 9. Once annual Big East foes, the Panthers and Bearcats meet for the first time since 2012.
  • Pitt will open the 2023 season at Acrisure Stadium against Wofford on Sept. 2.

The Panthers play their road opener at rival West Virginia on Sept. 16. Last year’s renewal of the “Backyard Brawl” drew 3.15 million viewers to ESPN and a Pittsburgh sports-record attendance of 70,622 at Acrisure.

Pitt concludes its non-conference slate with an Oct. 28 trip to Notre Dame. The Irish (No. 14 ESPN) won nine games last season, including a Gator Bowl victory over South Carolina.

The Panthers’ ACC road schedule features a Nov. 11 visit to Yankee Stadium to play Syracuse. The game commemorates the 100th anniversary of the first college football contest played in the historic venue in 1923 between the Orange and Panthers.
