As we all know, a lot can change between now and the start of the NFL Draft on April 27.
With free agency and the start of the new league year just around the corner, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah joined the Giants Huddle podcast to discuss players that might be of interest to the Giants in the upcoming NFL Draft.
The draft analyst touched on several positions that the Giants could address, starting with wide receiver. With the No. 25 pick in the first round, some of the top wideout prospects will likely be off the board. However, Jeremiah believes USC’s Jordan Addison not only could still be available, but also would be a great fit in the Giants’ offense with Daniel Jones and Wan’Dale Robinson.
“I like Addison,” Jeremiah said about the 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver. “I think Addison can play outside, I think he can play inside, he can do whatever you want him to do. He’s not the biggest guy in the world, but he creates a ton of separation, he’s a polished route-runner, he has outstanding hands. To me, I think he’s the most skilled of these wideouts. I think he could be a great fit with Daniel as he’s trying to continue to grow and emerge and evolve as a player. I think he’d be a good complement to Wan’Dale. Ideally, you’d want to find a bigger body to put out there at some point in time. But to me, separation, speed and quickness have to be at the top of the list.”
Another position that many believe Joe Schoen and the Giants could look to add some more talent at this offseason is cornerback.
While Oregon’s Christian Gonzalez, Penn State’s Joey Porter Jr., and Illinois’ Devon Witherspoon are unlikely to be there at No. 25, Jeremiah believes there are two other players in the next wave of cornerbacks who could catch the eye of the Giants.
“The name that I would keep an eye on that’s kind of emerging through this process, a good player, is Deonte Banks from Maryland,” the NFL Network analyst stated. “He’s big, he can run. (Kelee) Ringo from Georgia is a polarizing player, but there’s a lot of ability there. Another height, weight, speed guy. Those are kind of the guys that I think will be in that next wave of corners.”
Not only are they talented players, but Jeremiah also believes both Banks and Ringo could be great fits for Wink Martindale’s defensive system.
“I think Banks kind of fits that (system),” Jeremiah noted. “He’s long and physical, and really Ringo can do a lot of that stuff too. He’s a pure press man corner. Both of those guys, to me, make a ton…
