After a slow start to the 2022-23 season, the Nebraska men’s basketball team ended the season on the right note. On Sunday, the Huskers defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 81-77 from Iowa City.
The win marks the first time the Cornhuskers have swept the season series against the Hawkeyes since Nebraska joined the Big Ten. It also marked the first time the Huskers have won at Carver-Hawkeye Arena since 2012.
The Cornhuskers shot 58.5% from the field—their second-best shooting game of the season.
Nebraska’s 14 3-pointers were a season-high for the team. They previously had hit 12 in a game twice the season (Boston College and Rutgers).
The win also ended Iowa’s eight-game Big Ten home winning streak. In addition, it was their first home conference loss since they lost to Wisconsin back in December.
Nebraska now enters the Big Ten Tournament, winning five of their last six. On Wednesday afternoon, the No. 11 Cornhuskers will take on the No. 14 Minnesota Golden Gophers from the United Center in Chicago.
Sam Griesel may never have to buy a drink in Nebraska again. He led the #Huskers to a 4-0 record vs. Iowa, Creighton and Wisconsin in one season.
