According to reports, the New York Giants agreed to terms with free agent wide receiver Jeff Smith, pending a physical.
Smith, originally undrafted out of Boston College in 2019, spent his first four NFL seasons nearby with the New York Jets. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder has appeared in 36 games with seven starts, recording 34 catches for 426 yards (long of 50 yards). Last season, Smith played 141 snaps on offense and 86 on special teams.
A four-year player at Boston College, Smith transitioned to wide receiver from quarterback midway through his college career. He appeared in 47 games and finished with 72 receptions for 1,078 yards and nine touchdowns and completed 34 passes for 404 yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed 135 times for 898 yards and nine touchdowns.
