ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan football program announced today (Sunday, Feb. 19) the signing of defensive back Brandyn Hillman from Portsmouth, Virginia, and Churchland High School, to a national letter of intent. Hillman becomes the 24th member of the Wolverines’ 2023 recruiting class.

Hillman was a 1,000-yard passer and rusher in both his junior and senior seasons, totaling just under 5,000 yards and 64 touchdowns over those final two years. He was rated as one of the top five players in the state of Virginia by nearly every recruiting service and was a consensus four-star recruit as rated by 247Sports, ESPN and On3. Hillman becomes the second-highest-rated prospect in Michigan’s recruiting class behind defensive lineman Enow Etta.

Hillman is the fourth defensive back in the class and the second player from the state of Virginia, joining offensive lineman Evan Link (Burke, Va.).
