STARKVILLE – Mississippi State mourns the loss of one of its greatest receivers of all time as Bulldog legend Mardye McDole has passed away.
One of only five receivers in MSU history to rack up over 2,000 receiving yards, McDole was a star for State from 1977 through 1980.

McDole rode his second-year success into big junior and senior campaigns. Following his senior year in 1980, McDole was tabbed as an All-American by the Sporting News.
McDole concluded his Mississippi State career as the university’s all-time leader in receiving yards (2,214) and catches (116). He still ranks third in career receiving yardage behind only Fred Ross and Chad Bumphis. McDole remained in MSU’s Top 10 for career receptions until the 2022 season.
Following his time in Starkville, McDole began his professional career when he was chosen in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. McDole spent three…
