A couple of former Nebraska Cornhuskers saw mixed results in Week 8 of the XFL season. Defensive lineman Freedom Akinmoladun and cornerback Chris Jones took the field for the respective teams over the weekend.
Akinmoladun, a member of the St. Louis BattleHawks, defeated the Vegas Vipers 21-17 in overtime. The victory was the first overtime game in XFL history.
Jones, who plays for the Seattle SeaDragons, fell to the DC Defenders by a score of 34-33. The loss puts Seattle’s record at 5-3 on the season and in third place in the XFL North.
The XFL postseason will begin on April 29th and see the top two teams in each division play in the semifinals. The 2023 XFL Championship will occur on Saturday, May 13th, in San Antonio at the Alamodome.
