COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland football offensive lineman Spencer Anderson and quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa have been named to the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, it was announced on Wednesday.
Now in its 17th year, the Hampshire Honor Society recognizes football players who have graduated, are a starter or a significant contributor and achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) or better throughout their college career.
Anderson, a Bowie, Maryland native, carried a 3.50 GPA while earning a degree in Communication. A 2020-21 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, Anderson was in the MTECH graduate program during the 2022 season.
On the field, Anderson is a durable and versatile offensive lineman that ended his career by starting 31 consecutive games at multiple positions along the offensive line for the Terrapins. A 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl participant, Anderson posted the third-highest pass blocking grade of any Big Ten guard with over 800 snaps, via Pro Football Focus, in 2022 with a score of 78.4.
Tagovailoa, a Ewa Beach, Hawaii native, owns a 3.61 GPA while earning a degree in Family Science. The quarterback was named to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District team and was a 2022 Academic All-Big Ten selection.
On the field, Tagovailoa has helped ascend the Terps passing game to new heights during his three-year career.
