As Nebraska prepares to kick off head coach Matt Rhule’s inaugural season, early projections show that a postseason drought may end. College Football News believes the Cornhuskers will play in a bowl game following the 2023 regular season.
Nebraska has been projected to play in the 2023 Quick Lane Bowl against the Western Michigan Broncos. The Huskers had played Western Michigan only on time previously when the Broncos visited Memorial Stadium in August of 2008.
Nebraska would win the game by a score of 47-24. That victory was then-head coach Bo Pelini’s first game at Memorial Stadium as Husker head coach.
Nebraska last played in a bowl game in December 2016 when the then-rank No.24 Cornhuskers lost in the Music City Bowl by a score of 38-24. As a program, the Huskers have played in 53 bowl games, including an NCAA-record 35 straight bowl games from 1969 to 2003.
