NFL.com deals RB with Cowboys connection to Dallas in first-round mock

NFL Network’s Peter Schrager has put out his first mock draft of the offseason, just days before the real thing kicks off in Kansas City. Cowboys fans scrolling through the Good Morning Football host’s picks will find themselves groaning repeatedly as prospect after prospect who has been linked to Dallas pre-draft gets taken off the board, with each of the Cowboys’ divisional rivals snatching away one of their main targets.

Schrager’s pick for the Cowboys is a name that hasn’t been discussed much at No. 26, at least outside the building. Both of those players are also among the favorites who have met with Dallas.

Gibbs, though, has experts somewhat divided. An electricifying rusher who’s also a high-volume pass-catching weapon, he’s most commonly compared to Alvin Kamara. One scout has likened him to Marshall Faulk. Gibbs himself believes his game is a mix of Christian McCaffrey and Jamaal Charles.

All of whom are elite company. But for reasons he can’t help, the just-turned 21-year-old is projected to still be there late in the first and possibly even fall into the second round of the draft.

Says Schrager:

“The Cowboys have an incredibly strong track record when it…
