KANSAS CITY – Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the first round with the 25th overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday night, becoming Utah’s 10th first round selection in program history.

It is the first time in program history that Utah has had back-to-back years with first round picks with Kincaid joining Devin Lloyd, who was picked in 2022 in the first round and 27th overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kincaid is Utah’s highest pick since 2017 (Garett Bolles, No. 20) and is the first tight end for Utah taken in the draft since 1996.

He was the first tight end taken in the NFL draft in 2023 and is the highest picked tight end in program history.

The Las Vegas, Nev., native finished his collegiate career with 55 games played, recording 2,484 receiving yards and 35 receiving touchdowns.

In 2022, he was a John Mackey Award semifinalist, earning All-America status from Pro Football Focus, Bleacher Report and Associated Press. He was also All-Pac-12 first-team last season, earning honorable mention in 2021.

He played in 12 games with nine starts last season, putting up a team-high 70 receptions, 890 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns. He led all FBS tight ends in receiving yards and receiving yards per game (74.2) during the regular season in 2022 with his eight touchdowns ranking second among FBS tight ends.

Kincaid’s breakout game came in Utah’s 47-24 victory over USC during the regular season, notching a career-high 16 receptions on 16 targets for a career-best 234 yards and a touchdown. The 16 catches was the most by any player in the FBS in 2022 with his 234 yards ranking as the most by an FBS tight end.

He finished 2022 with four games with 80+ receiving yards, including 100-yard games against Southern Utah (107 yds, 2 TDs) and at Colorado (102 yds, 1 TD).

In 2021, Kincaid racked up 36 receptions for 510 yards and eight touchdowns with his 14.2 yards per reception ranking ninth among tight ends in the FBS. His 16 total receiving touchdowns as a Ute ranks in the top-10 all-time.
