Hendon Hooker was selected by Detriot in the third round (No. 68 overall) of the 2023 NFL draft on Friday.
Hooker is Tennessee’s 381st player selected in the NFL draft all time.
The 6-foot-3, 217-pound quarterback transferred to the Vols from Virginia Tech prior to the 2021 season.
Hooker was named the 2022 SEC Offensive Player of the Year and finished fifth in Heisman Memorial Trophy voting. He finished his career with the fifth-most passing touchdowns in school history.

WHAT A LANDING SPOT for Hendon Hooker. He blew away coaches at the combine in his meetings, can make every throw, is decisive in the passing game and when to run. He needs a year to fully recover from the ACL injury and can do that behind Jared Goff. His deep ball is a BEAUTY.

Hendon Hooker has been drafted 68th overall by the #Lions!
He’s the first #Vols QB to be selected since Josh Dobbs in 2017. He’s the highest UT QB to be selected since Peyton Manning in 1998.
