Brenton Strange was one of the most intriguing prospects in this year’s NFL Draft, not only from a Penn State perspective, but from an overall prospect perspective. Strange has the prototypical size of an NFL tight end and had moments on tape that made NFL decision makers intrigued about who he could become.
There were rumors that Strange was flying up draft boards and could go in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday. That proclamation came true when the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him with the 61st pick. It might come as a shock that it was the Jaguars who selected him since they signed their starting tight end Evan Engram to a one year $11.4 million contract this offseason. However, it could also be a sign that they’re looking to feature Strange in an offense that prioritizes the tight end position.
Here are the Twitter reactions from Brenton Strange being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Chris Simms approves of the pick
The @Jaguars got Trevor Lawrence another top notch weapon. Brenton Strange has great Yac ability. And he is a fearless blocker in the run game. The jags gonna be able to run or throw at will.
