As expected, Nebraska only saw two players selected in this years edition of the NFL draft. The pair of players even had to wait until the later portions of day three to do so.
Taken at pick 189 in round six, the Rams took the first Cornhusker off the board in edge rusher Ochaun Mathis. Not far behind was wide receiver Trey Palmer off the board when the Buccaneers drafted him at pick 191.
As we are just beginning in the Matt Rhule era, hopefully, there’s a belief that Cornhuskers will be selected early and often. Rhule has said that he wants to make Nebraska one of the preeminent player development programs in the country, and this year’s draft shows there’s a lot of work to do.
Below are the reactions from fans on Twitter regarding both selections.
Bucs just got a steal with Trey Palmer! This Husker WR is about to light up the NFL and make big plays all day long 🔥🏈 Check my bio plz

Rams go with a high upside bet in Ochaun Mathis. Showed so much potential at TCU but stock took a hit this year at Nebraska. Big pass rusher with bend. Also loves to smear QBs: pic.twitter.com/xPN5hbkG1z
