Will Campbell started at left tackle as a true freshman in 2022. LSU had high hopes for the five-star recruit, but he still managed to exceed them.
Now gearing up for his sophomore campaign, PFF considers Campbell a top-10 offensive tackle, ranking him sixth.
“The true freshman’s 85.6 pass-blocking grade on true pass sets ranked third in the country and trailed only Peter Skronski among Power Five tackles,” PFF wrote.
It’s worth noting that Skronski was a first-round pick in the NFL draft last month.
PFF writes that Campbell has a good chance of being the first tackle off the board in 2025 and should only be higher on this list next year.
Campbell was a key piece of LSU’s turn-around last year. Following a couple seasons of inconsistent line play, the freshman proved to be just the anchor the Tigers needed.
He wasn’t the only true freshman starting. At right tackle, LSU played Emery Jones, also in Year 1.
The two are a large reason why many are bullish on LSU entering the fall.
