The Houston Gamblers have made a couple more moves in free agency, signing cornerbacks Richard Bowens III and Jai Nunn-Liddell ahead of the 2024 USFL season.

So far, the Gamblers have been relatively quiet in free agency, having transitioned to a new GM in Lionel Vital just a few weeks ago.
Now, the team brings in two young cornerbacks, hungry to prove themselves on the professional level in the USFL.
Richard Bowens III
Richard Bowens III began his college career at Iowa State, where he saw limited action. From 2017-2019, Bowens played in 19 games, compiling nine total tackles.
He then moved to Central Michigan, posting 28 tackles and an interception for the team during the 2020-2021 seasons.

Richard wrapped up his collegiate career at Saginaw Valley State, and played quite well. In 2022, he registered 20 tackles, an interception, and three pass breakups for the team. After going undrafted this past NFL draft, he now lands in the USFL.
This move makes a lot of sense. Lionel Vital has reportedly been very close with Bowens, working with him as a mentor. Since Vital has taken the reins in Houston, now Bowens has an opportunity to impress the new GM – who is also a partner of his.
Jai Nunn-Liddell
For whatever reason, statistics on Jai Nunn-Liddell’s career are nearly impossible to find. He began his career at Troy, but didn’t see much playing time.
