Houston Gamblers Sign Free Agent CB Elijah Rodgers

The Rock Seemingly Confirms XFL Will Play in Host Cities for 2023 Return

The Houston Gamblers have been making plenty of defensive moves under new GM Lionel Vital. Cornerback Elijah Rodgers has signed to the team, out of Clemson.

So far, it appears as if the Houston Gamblers are looking to revamp their defensive unit. The organization just recently signed cornerbacks Richard Bowens III and Jai Nunn-Liddell.

Now, they have brought in another prospect to the defense in Elijah Rodgers. Rodgers began his college career at Indiana, before transferring to Gardner-Webb. Speed is Rodgers’ strong suit, running a 4.53 40 yard dash coming out of high school.

Elijah Rodgers ended up walking onto Clemson in 2021, and made the team. He played in one game during the season, posting one tackle.

In 2022, Rodgers saw the field during five games, but did not record any statistics defensively. He will now look to kickstart his professional career in the USFL, with the Houston Gamblers.

Curtis Johnson is making it clear that Houston will have a different look and feel in 2024. With a new GM at the helm, and plenty of new pieces, the Gamblers hope they can break through the postseason drought – missing the playoffs the last two seasons.

In addition to the defensive signings, the Gamblers picked up free agent Center Jakari Robinson a few weeks ago. They also signed kicker Gabe Brkic, and long snapper Logan Klusman.
