Free Agent Signing:
•CB Elijah Rodgers, Clemson
— Houston Gamblers (@USFLGamblers) September 11, 2023
So far, it appears as if the Houston Gamblers are looking to revamp their defensive unit. The organization just recently signed cornerbacks Richard Bowens III and Jai Nunn-Liddell.
Now, they have brought in another prospect to the defense in Elijah Rodgers. Rodgers began his college career at Indiana, before transferring to Gardner-Webb. Speed is Rodgers’ strong suit, running a 4.53 40 yard dash coming out of high school.
Elijah Rodgers ended up walking onto Clemson in 2021, and made the team. He played in one game during the season, posting one tackle.
After a couple of years being frustrated and confused, former top prospect Elijah Rodgers from Blacksburg High School ready to prove himself as walk-on at Clemson.https://t.co/CRcPnLZt7j

In 2022, Rodgers saw the field during five games, but did not record any statistics defensively. He will now look to kickstart his professional career in the USFL, with the Houston Gamblers.
Curtis Johnson is making it clear that Houston will have a different look and feel in 2024. With a new GM at the helm, and plenty of new pieces, the Gamblers hope they can break through the postseason drought – missing the playoffs the last two seasons.
