The Pittsburgh Maulers made a major splash in USFL free agency yesterday. Along the way, they signed RB Trey Williams, formerly of the New Jersey Generals.

Williams spent the last two seasons with the @USFLGenerals, and was the second leading rusher during the 2022 season.

Heading into free agency, Trey Williams was one of the top running backs available. He’s been an underrated asset in New Jersey through two seasons, and now signs with the Maulers for 2024.
Interestingly enough, I had written a piece months ago about how Williams could fit Pittsburgh’s scheme well, and why he would push their offense to another level.
Now, speculation has become reality. Trey Williams is in Pittsburgh, poised to take control of their backfield in 2024. This is quite the signing, especially considering free agent RB Rodney Smith just recently joined the team as well.
USFL Career
People forget just how talented Trey is. Despite sharing reps with Darius Victor in 2022, Trey posted 579 rushing yards – which was the second most in the entire USFL. He averaged 4.9 YPC, with a long of 61 yards in a week ten win against Philadelphia.
