Pittsburgh Maulers Sign WR Diondre Overton In USFL Free Agency

The XFL Returns to the Spring League

The Pittsburgh Maulers have made their third splash in USFL free agency, signing wide receiver Diondre Overton. Formerly with the Philadelphia Stars for the past two seasons, Overton now joins his Northern rivals for 2024.

During the 2022 USFL season, Diondre Overton was a reliable target for Bryan Scott and Case Cookus. He finished the year with 200 receiving yards, and three touchdowns – being a part of a team that came up just short in the Championship against Birmingham.

In 2023, Overton was one of the more underrated wideouts in the USFL. The Philadelphia Stars were a pass-heavy team, spreading the ball between playmakers such as Corey Coleman, Devin Gray, and Diondre.

This year, Overton caught 30 passes for 333 yards, and two touchdowns. His size and outstanding hands make him into a deep threat, which is what we’ve seen in Philadelphia through two seasons.

One of his major highlights came in week ten, making an outstanding catch in traffic to put the Stars up by two scores.

Now, things are shaking up in free agency once again. The Pittsburgh Maulers have officially signed Diondre, just days after he was released by the Stars.
