Michigan Panthers Signing Edge D’Anthony Jones For 2024

Report: The XFL is not interested in Antonio Brown

The Michigan Panthers have broken their silence in USFL free agency, signing Edge D’Anthony Jones for the 2024 season.

This is an excellent pickup for Michigan’s defensive line, one that could use some help. As of right now, the team lost both edge rushers in Levi Bell and Breeland Speaks, two of the top linemen in the USFL. Additionally, DL Ethan Westbrooks was picked up by the New Jersey Generals in free agency.

Now, the Panthers secure another important free agent piece ahead of the 2024 season. Granted, Jones has signed a “futures deal”, which means that he can choose not to play next year. At the same time, he is free to pursue other NFL opportunities, just like any other player currently in the USFL.

That being said, D’Anthony Jones brings a lot to the table for the Michigan Panthers. He began his college career at Long Beach Community College, and saw tremendous production during the 2019 season where he posted 62 tackles and 10.5 sacks in just nine games.

D’Anthony then transferred to Houston, where he continued to perform at a high level. Across three seasons, Jones registered 64 tackles and 14 sacks, dominating in the trenches for the Cougars.
