The Chicago Bears are getting back some key offensive starters ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Detroit Lions, including quarterback Justin Fields.
But there’s more good news on the way as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that running back Khalil Herbert is expected to be activated off injured reserve in time to play on Sunday.
Herbert suffered an ankle injury in a Week 5 win over the Washington Commanders, which sidelined him the past five games. Herbert was designated to return from IR last week, but the team didn’t feel he was ready.
With Herbert being a full participant in practice over the past couple of days, he didn’t receive an injury designation for Week 11, an indication he’ll be suiting up against the Lions.
In much more positive QB news… the #Bears have taken QB Justin Fields off the injury report and he’ll play on Sunday. They’ll also activate RB Khalil Herbert to play on Sunday.

The news comes after running back Darrynton Evans was waived Thursday, an indication the team was clearing up a roster spot for Herbert’s return.
Running back D’Onta Foreman, who has been shouldering the workload in Herbert’s absence, has been nursing an ankle injury that’s kept him limited all week in practice. Foreman is officially questionable for Sunday.
