Historically, the Chargers have had success getting home on Lamar Jackson. In their two regular-season matchups against the former MVP, LA has sacked Jackson three times each. Los Angeles also brought Jackson down seven times in the 2018 Wild Card round, 1 23-17 Chargers triumph.
A lot has changed since that 2018 game, of course, but the Chargers still have a healthy pass rush, even with Joey Bosa going on injured reserve earlier this week. Khalil Mack is creeping towards 100 career sacks and rookie Tuli Tuipulotu has given LA an extra dimension this season. Jackson has taken the sixth-most sacks of any quarterback this season, having been taken down 27 times in Baltimore’s 11 games.
Especially with the injuries to the Ravens’ wide receivers and Mark Andrews, Jackson could need extra time to let plays develop for lesser players. If the Chargers can prevent that extra time with pressure from Mack, Tuipulotu, or designer packages, they may be able to stymie Baltimore’s offense.
