BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference office announced Monday that Tennessee redshirt senior offensive tackle Dayne Davis was selected as the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after UT’s victory in the regular season finale against Vanderbilt.
Davis made his second consecutive start at right tackle and helped pave the way and protect for 617 yards of total offense in the Vols’ 48-24 win over the Commodores. The former walk-on from Bluff City, Tennessee, played 55 snaps and did not allow a sack, hit or a penalty. It was the fifth start of his career and second of the season. The Vols averaged 7.8 yards per play, allowed only one sack as a team and generated their second game of 600-plus yards of total offense this season.
The East Tennessee native is a first-time recipient of SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week accolades. He joins John Campbell Jr. (10/28/23 vs. Kentucky), Cooper Mays (11/12/22 vs. Missouri) and Javontez Spraggins (9/24/22 vs. Florida) as current UT offensive linemen to earn the honor from the conference office.
During the Josh Heupel era (2021-present), Tennessee has compiled 30 SEC weekly honors — including eight Offensive Lineman of the Week awards.
