Eagles kicker Jake Elliott has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after another clutch performance in a 37-34 overtime win against the Buffalo Bills in Week 12.
Elliott made all four of his extra points and a huge 59-yard field goal that sent the game to overtime en route to his third NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor of the season.
“Nobody I’d rather have in the NFL more than Jake Elliott,” said Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni. “Shoot, to me he’s the best kicker in the NFL. He’s so clutch.”
With just over 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, and the Eagles down by three, it was on the right leg of Elliott to send the game to overtime.
The seventh-year kicker came on to attempt a 59-yard field goal in rainy and windy weather.
“Given the conditions, that was probably the toughest one I have had to hit,” Elliott said. “I would say at the beginning of the game, that was the tougher end (of the field) to kick on, but as the game progressed, it became more of a crosswind, so I appreciated that.”
As fans have been accustomed to seeing, Elliott came through in the clutch.
The line drive kick slowly curved from left to right as it traveled toward the north end of the stadium, just sneaking in the right post.
The kick that Elliott deemed “the toughest one I have had to hit,” sent the game to overtime where a Jalen Hurts 12-yard rushing touchdown won it for the Eagles.
