Back in September the USFL and XFL rocked the football world with the news that they indended to merge. Since then there has been a lot of rumors swirling around what the new league would look like and even what it would be named.
Fans have been impatiently waiting for the news to become official ever since their intentions were revealed. Many expected this to be a quick process, but it seems like the wait may be over.
Ben Fisher (Sports Business Journal) reports that the USFL/XFL merger has cleared federal antitrust review. Furthermore, he states that the new combined league is planning a 2024 season which is set to kickoff on March 30th.

Fisher was also able to obtain a statement from the combined league.
We are pleased to have completed the antitrust review process in connection with the proposed merger of the XFL and USFL and intend to play a combined season this spring kicking off on Saturday, March 30. We are now finalizing terms of the definitive agreement and will share more about this new League in the coming weeks.
Additionally, he reports that current XFL CEO Russ Brandon will be the top executive of the new league.

PFN’s own James Larsen took to X (Twitter) earlier stating that an official announcement on the merger could come as early as today.

There is an event this morning in San Antonio to launch a “Lone Star” club for Brahmas season ticket holders, and merger news could come alongside with it, barring any last minute changes.
