Texans QB C.J. Stroud speaks on Broncos altercation, Tank Dell injury

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was fired up after he led his team to a huge Week 13 win over the Denver Broncos.

The rookie got emotional when he spoke about teammate Tank Dell’s likely season-ending leg injury and also explained why he reacted when Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton pushed him after a pre-snap false start call in the first quarter.

Dell and Stroud developed an incredible rapport through the first 11 games of the year prior to the injury. Stroud advocated for the Texans to draft Dell and then the two connected for 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns.

Before Dell’s injury, though, Stroud got into a big of a scuffle with Singleton. After the Texans were called for a false start on fourth down, Singleton pushed Stroud after the play was blown dead. Stroud got in Singleton’s face after the play, to which Singleton responded by head-butting Stroud.

That prompted a flag against Broncos to set up a first down. The Texans scored a few plays later.

“I’m not gonna let someone just come and push me, especially in my house,” Stroud said after the game. “… I’m gonna stand on business.”

Just another touchstone moment in Stroud’s incredible rookie campaign.
