Lebby Tabs Knox, Washington And Green To Lead D.A.W.G. Program

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State football is set to debut a revamped player development system led by a trio of familiar Bulldog faces.

Greg Knox, Jason Washington and Gerri Green will head up what will be known as the D.A.W.G. (Developing A Winning Gameplan) program. Knox is serving as the director of career and professional development, Washington is the director of life skills and NFL liaison, while Green is the director of community engagement and former player liaison.

“At Mississippi State, we’re committed to ensuring our current players find success on the field and off of it, as well as making sure our former players know they always have a home here,” Bulldogs head coach Jeff Lebby said. “Greg, Jason and Gerri are the perfect individuals to guide this process. Those three not only know what we’re all about here at State because of their own experiences in Maroon and White, but they’re tremendous men and role models. They’ve already impacted so many in our Bulldog family over the years and I know they will continue to do so.”

Knox is currently in his second stint at Mississippi State. He was an assistant coach for MSU from 2009 through 2017 before returning ahead of the 2023 season as a senior offensive analyst. Knox has twice served as the interim head coach at State, first leading the Bulldogs to a win over Louisville in the 2017 TaxSlayer Bowl, then guiding the team over the final two contests of 2023, which included a victory over instate foe Southern Miss.
