When the schedule came out this game looked a lot different. Trevon Diggs was going to go heads up with his brother. The Bills weren’t known as a rushing team outside of their QB, and Dallas had Jonathan Hankins and Leighton Vander Esch, so their gameplan would’ve leaned more towards attacking Josh Allen with the pass rush and trying to create turnovers. Unfortunately, injuries have taken their toll on the Cowboys, making them susceptible to the run game and Buffalo has become a top-10 rushing team.

Losing Hankins to take on that massive offensive line is a bad loss at a terrible time. Diggs could cause Quinn to need to double team his brother more often, eliminating a player from the box to stop the run. Vander Esch was the best linebacker on the team, and the one that was the most physical to take on blocks. Bell is a smaller linebacker that could be swallowed up by the mass of Buffalo’s OL.

The mix isn’t great for the defense of the Cowboys, and that isn’t even adding the fact that Allen is an elite talent at QB. The Cowboys could play a great game on offense, but if the injuries on defense allow the Bills to control the clock with their run game or hit big plays to Diggs, then Dallas might not be able to overcome their opponent on the road.
