CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) — Six of the 15 finalists for the 2024 NFL Hall of Fame class hail from an Atlantic Coast Conference school. The 2024 finalists include multi-time finalists Torry Holt, Reggie Wayne, Devin Hester, Andre Johnson, and Dwight Freeney, as well as first-time honoree Julius Peppers.
- Dwight Freeney, DE/OLB (Syracuse) — 2002-2012 Indianapolis Colts, 2013-14 San Diego Chargers, 2015 Arizona Cardinals, 2016 Atlanta Falcons, 2017 Seattle Seahawks, 2017 Detroit Lions
- Devin Hester, PR/KR/WR (Miami) — 2006-2013 Chicago Bears, 2014-2015 Atlanta Falcons, 2016 Baltimore Ravens, 2016 Seattle Seahawks
- Torry Holt, WR (NC State) — 1999-2008 St. Louis Rams, 2009 Jacksonville Jaguars
- Andre Johnson, WR (Miami) — 2003-2014 Houston Texans, 2015 Indianapolis Colts, 2016 Tennessee Titans
- Julius Peppers, DE (North Carolina) — 2002-09, 2017-18 Carolina Panthers, 2010-13 Chicago Bears, 2014-16 Green Bay Packers
- Reggie Wayne, WR (Miami) — 2001-2014 Indianapolis Colts
The finalists in the Modern-Era Player category were determined by a vote of the Hall’s Selection Committee from a list of 173 nominees named in September that was reduced to 25 semifinalists on Nov. 28.
Up to five modern-era players can be elected, and each must receive a minimum positive vote of 80 percent.
The slate of candidates in the Modern-Era Player category will be considered when the Hall of Fame’s Selection Committee meets prior to Super Bowl LVIII. The Class of 2024 will be unveiled publicly on Feb. 8 during the “NFL Honors presented by Invisalign” broadcast from Las Vegas on CBS Television Network and NFL Network. The award show will also be streamed on Paramount+ and NFL+. The show airs at 9 p.m. ET.
