Allen, Anger Pick Up Pro Bowl Selections


Dallas Cowboys punter Bryan Anger and Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen were selected Wednesday for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games. Allen (2017-21, ’23) picked up his sixth Pro Bowl selection, while Anger (2021, ’23) was chosen for the second time. The 2024 Pro Bowl Games are a week-long celebration of player skills featuring an exciting new format that spotlights a flag football game to be played Feb. 4 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.

Anger is also among eight former Cal football players currently affiliated with NFL teams who have clinched playoff spots through Week 17 of the regular season. The list also includes RB Chris Brooks (Miami), defensive line coach Austin Clark (Miami), QB Jared Goff, LB Cameron Goode (Miami), LB Jordan Kunaszyk (Cleveland), OL Patrick Mekari (Baltimore) and WR Nikko Remigio (Kansas City injured reserve), Six others – S Camryn Bynum (Minnesota), OT Jake Curhan (Seattle), defensive assistant coach Matt Giordano (New Orleans), DE Cameron Jordan (New Orleans), RB Patrick Laird (Tampa Bay practice squad) and assistant special teams coach Byron Storer (Green Bay) – are still in the running to join them when the NFL wraps up its’ 2023 regular season with Week 18 action this Saturday and Sunday.

A total of 24 former Cal players are currently affiliated with NFL teams, including 13 on active rosters, eight on coaching staffs, one on injured reserve and two on practice squads. Below is a list of all 25 former Cal players who have been affiliated with NFL teams during the 2023 season.

Keenan Allen – WR (Los Angeles Chargers, 5-11, Eliminated From Playoff Contention)

– Established a career-high 108 receptions, as well as 1,243 yards receiving and seven touchdowns (second and third-most in his career) over the first 13 games of 2023 before being inactive for the last three contests due to injury

– Earned a Pro Bowl selection for the sixth time

– Ranks second in the NFL in receptions, ninth in yards receiving and tied for 13th in touchdown receptions despite missing the last three games

– Posted career highs of 18 receptions and 215 yards receiving in a 28-24 Week 3 win at Minnesota

– In his 11th NFL season and has career totals of 904 receptions, 10,530 yards receiving and 59 touchdown catches over 139 games
