Harvey Joins Duke Football Program

Duke head football coach Manny Diaz announced Sunday that wide receiver Javon Harvey has signed a financial aid agreement to attend the institution and join the Blue Devil gridiron program.

DURHAM – Duke head football coach Manny Diaz announced Sunday that wide receiver Javon Harvey has signed a financial aid agreement to attend the institution and join the Blue Devil gridiron program.
 
Harvey will enroll at Duke in this month after graduating from Old Dominion University with a degree in human services. He played in 38 career games, making 23 starts, and finished with 70 receptions for 1,063 yards with eight touchdowns. He posted a career-high 166 receiving yards on three receptions against Wake Forest, including a career-long 68-yard touchdown catch, in 2023. Additionally, he tallied a career-best 12 receptions for 76 yards against Liberty in 2023 and two touchdown receptions against App State in 2022. Throughout his tenure with the Monarchs, Harvey earned three 100-yard receiving games (166 yards vs. Wake Forest in 2023; 133 yards vs. App State in 2022; and 124 yards against Georgia State in 2022).

He will have one season of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2024 campaign.

 

A 5-11, 180-pound native of Norfolk, Va., Harvey was charted as the No. 59 prospect from the state of Virginia according to 247Sports.com. Over his final three seasons at Lake Taylor, he helped the Titans to a 31-8 record and three consecutive playoff appearances, including one in the 2018 state championship game. As a senior, Harvey garnered 36 receptions for 866 yards with 10 touchdowns and registered 50 tackles, eight pass breakups and three interceptions.
