DURHAM – The NFL playoffs begin Saturday with four former Duke lettermen in the hunt for the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy.
George Edwards (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Noah Gray (Kansas City Chiefs), Thaddeus Lewis (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Scottie Montgomery (Detroit Lions) each helped their respective teams into the NFL postseason.
Gray and the Chiefs were the AFC West Champions after posting an 11-6 ledger during the regular season. They are the No. 3 seed in the upcoming playoffs and are scheduled to face off against sixth-seeded Miami (11-6) on Saturday night at 8 p.m.
Edwards and Lewis, who serve as the Buccaneers outside linebackers and quarterbacks coach, respectively, helped Tampa Bay to an NFC South Championship and a No. 4 seed in the upcoming playoffs after a 9-8 regular season finish. The Buccaneers face off against fifth-seeded Philadelphia (11-6) on Monday at 8:15 p.m.
Lions assistant head coach and running backs coach, Montgomery, will help lead Detroit to its first playoff appearance since 2016 after it concluded the regular season with the NFC North title and a 12-5 regular season record. The Lions meet up with the sixth-seeded Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at 8 p.m.
Additionally, offensive lineman Matt Skura is a member of the Miami Dolphins practice squad.
