Charles Joins Duke Football Program

Duke head football coach Manny Diaz announced Thursday that defensive tackle Kendy Charles has signed a financial aid agreement to attend the institution and join the Blue Devil gridiron program.

DURHAM – Duke head football coach Manny Diaz announced Thursday that defensive tackle Kendy Charles has signed a financial aid agreement to attend the institution and join the Blue Devil gridiron program.
 
Charles will enroll at Duke in this month after graduating from Liberty University with a degree in sports management. He played in 37 career games, compiling 109 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, six quarterback pressures, one pass breakup, one fumble recovery and one caused fumble. He posted a career-high eight tackles against BYU in 2022, while earning a career-best 3.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks against Old Dominion in 2021. Additionally, he tallied a career-high two quarterback pressures against Akron in 2022 and registered one fumble recovery and one caused fumble against FIU in 2023 and UAB in 2022, respectively.

He will have one season of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2024 campaign.

 

A 6-0, 280-pound native of Haiti, Charles was charted as a three-star prospect by ESPN.com. He finished his high school tenure at Orange Park High School with 216 tackles, 30.0 sacks, 24 quarterback hurries and four forced fumbles. Additionally, he was named a 5A Second Team All-State performer as a senior and was tabbed a three-time first team all-county selection and a two-time first team all-conference and all-district recipient.
