Florida at Georgia basketball: TV, preview and prediction

The Georgia Bulldogs (14-10, 4-7) basketball team is on a five game losing streak. The Bulldogs host the Florida Gators (17-7, 7-4) in an SEC clash on Sat., Feb. 17 at 1:00 p.m. ET. The Georgia-Florida game will be televised on the SEC Network.

Head coach Mike White and the Bulldogs have seen their NCAA Tournament hopes decline significantly over the past five games. Georgia started its losing streak with a 102-98 road overtime loss to Florida a few weeks. Overall, Georgia is 2-7 in its last nine games after going on a 10-game winning streak earlier in the season.

Florida is currently projected to be a eight-seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Gators offer a chance for Georgia to pick up a much-needed quality win.

Georgia’s leading scorer is Jabri Abdur-Rahim at 12.8 points per game.  Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr. is the Gators’ leading scorer at 16.3 points per game.

Georgia basketball has to string together a winning steak if the Bulldogs want to make the NCAA Tournament. Georgia has blown a few great opportunities in recent weeks and needs to get back to winning to have a shot to play in any postseason tournament (beyond the SEC tournament). ESPN gives Florida a 59% chance to defeat Georgia.

Prediction: Florida 71, Georgia 65

We don’t see much of a reason to pick Georgia to win after the Bulldogs’ recent poor form.
