We are officially two months away from the 2024 NFL draft, and speculations and rumors are heating up.
The Chargers have been closely linked to Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, and oddsmakers believe they’re the favorite to draft him.
FanDuel Sportsbook has Los Angeles as the favorite at +200 (bet $100 to win $200), which is ahead of the Colts (+500), Titans (+750), Jets (+900), Bengals (+1000) and Saints (+1200).
Given his positional value, Los Angeles might be able to trade back a few spots and draft him. But if they don’t want to take the chance of a team like Tennessee selecting him, they would have to draft him at No. 5 overall.
With Gerald Everett set to be a free agent, the Bolts will be in the market for a bonafide starting tight end for offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who covets players at the position in his system.
Bowers, the only player to win the John Mackey Award twice, finished this past season with 56 catches for 714 yards and six touchdowns. He led all FBS tight ends with 486 yards after the catch.
Along with his ability to be a mismatch for any defender in the passing game, Bowers is good as a run blocker, which the Chargers have struggled to get from their tight ends in recent seasons.
